About Me

   

Hey there! I am Rashmi Sooriyabandara, a.k.a Hipogirl. I am better known by most people for my curls and love for dogs. If I can summarize myself in one phrase it would be simply "A girl who wants to try a little bit of everything". 

I am a licensed counselor and psychotherapist currently working with children with special needs. Along with my client counseling consultations I also work as a lecturer at a leading psychology institute in Sri Lanka. I have always wanted to help the "voiceless", whether it's people or animals; and that will always be my vision in life.   

I began my journey in blogging as a passionate photographer back in 2010. I created my own photography page on Facebook which I later relaunched as a public page for all my hipogirl contents. Later in the same year I started doing hair tutorials on Youtube. Reflecting back to the good old days, I was just a 15 year old girl with a cheap digital camera, poor natural lighting with zero knowledge on video editing. I barely shared my videos even with my closest friends, but me being me was quite happy with the two digit view on my videos. With time I came out of my comfort zone and started uploading nail art, beauty as well as cooking videos on my channel. Year by year, I became more confident and slowly people started recognizing my content. 7 years forward, as of now I can proudly say I have over 330,000 views on my channel. 

In 2016, I reached another milestone in life by starting my short journey as a model. My first debut appearance was in a Music Video Mata Rawana by a well known Sri Lankan artist named La Signore (Lahiru Perera). The MV became a huge hit as predicted by all his other record breaking MVs and got over 700,000 recognition yet alone on Social Media. Soon I received numerous invitations for movies, teledramas, TV advertisements and bridal photoshoots. I later appeared in few TV adverts and photoshoots which also received a lot of acknowledgement. All these helped me get a lot of attention from the public which made me make my personal Instagram a public account. Today I got over 36,000 amazing followers who are my soul motivation in continue sharing my passion as a blogger. As fun and uplifting as it was, I decided to stop my work as a model as I believed I needed more focus on my career path. 

Past 7 years have been a challenge but it sure made me find a whole new creative and carefree self within me. With the help of my loving family and amazing friends and followers I have a life that is worth a share with the world.
